Operating under the U.S. Air
Force Special Operation Command (AFSOC), the Special
Tactics Squadron (STS) are comprised of combat controllers (CCT)
and pararescuemen (PJ). Special Tactics Team members are proficient in
sea-air-land insertion tactics into forward, nonpermissive environments.
The CCTs establish assault zones with an air traffic control capability
while PJs provide any emergency medical care necessary to stabilize and
evacuate injured personnel.
STS team members frequently operate with SEALs, Rangers, Special Forces
units in special reconnaissance, combat search and rescue, direct action,
and other missions. |
