The United States
Federal Bureau of Investigation maintains a specially trained and well
equipped unit that is called the Hostage Rescue
Team (HRT). Should a situation arise when domestic or foreign
terrorists take hostages in the United States, HRT can be deployed to any
location within four hours of notification and take care of business.
Although HRT's primary mission is hostage rescue and barricaded subjects,
it also has conducted tactical law enforcement operations including, among
others: high-risk arrest and warrant service; manhunt and rural
operations; mobile assaults; heliborne and maritime operations. |
